Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund; Support the Ill Fortunate from Arizona

In Arizona, most people are oppressed by injustice as a result of being immigrants, or maybe they come from minority communities. Therefore, Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund have come to help the less fortunate and support organizations that advocate for less fortunate rights.

Racial discrimination is very high in America, and many injustice cases have been reported. These injustices are caused by people who are supposed to protect the minorities, but they choose not to.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are the chief executives at Phoenix New Times are the founders of Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. Lacey and Larkin were compensated by Maricopa County in 2013 after they were arrested after writing about misdeeds by Sheriff Arpaio.

Phoenix New Times wrote about mismanagement and financial irregularities in the sheriff’s office. Therefore, the sheriff decided to arrest them, and he detained them for less than 24 hours.

After a time, Michael Lacey andJim Larkin sort justice after the illegal detention. After a long battle in the court, it was determined that Lacey and Larkin were arrested without a good reason. Therefore, Maricopa county compensated them with $3.7 million.

Lacey and Larkin decided to use the fund to form Frontera Fund which was to help the Hispanic community. Also, the funds were to support the organizations who fight for civil rights for immigrants and less fortunate. The funds are to assist victims of injustice who come from Minor communities.

With Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund, the great impact has been seen in the society. Through funding many organizations that are non-profit making and advocate for civil, immigrant and human rights, the organization goals are realized.

One organization that is benefiting from Frontera Fund is The Justice for Immigrants & Families Project. This organization helps Immigrants in Maricopa County get justice. They help them get good attorneys who help them in their removal proceedings. Its main aim is to ensure individual immigrants enjoy their rights and don’t face injustice.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin ensure no one faces injustice as they faced due to vulnerability. Through Village Voice Media, Lacey and Larkin can advocate the rights of minorities and help share knowledge with them as knowledge is power.
